Picture Cards | diy

Supplies: Any Magazine, Markers, Glue, Blank Cards & Envelopes and Scissors.

1. Look through your magazine to find any pictures that have hands, fingers, funny faces, memorable characters, pretty colors, jewels, patterns, etc.

2. Cut out your favorite pictures

3. And glue!  Leave it blank or feel free to add some clever captions (:

So far my favorite cards look they are giving a thumbs up.  These will probably be congratulation cards.  The actual picture is a women holding onto a clutch.  Not bad huh??

Alt-J / triangles are my favorite shape

I've been waiting to see Alt-J all summer!  I have been super swamped with work, so this was a nice break.

Alt-J is definitely a different kind of sound.  Most of the time I have no idea what they are saying.  Only at the chorus when the beat slows down, some phrases become clear.

Before the show Lina and I were trying to sing our favorite songs however, it was impossible for the other person to guess.  I can play the song so clearly in my head, but when I try to produce the same sounds it is impossible to tell what I am singing.

We had fun seeing Alt-J at the Hollywood Bowl. But I am definitely getting old.  I had to sit down during the show and knocked out right when I got home. As my students would say, YOLO!

Here are some of my favorite tracks by Alt-J:
Dissolve Me
Every Other Freckle
Tessellate

Enjoy!

The Spheres at MacArthur Park

This must of been a great party...

Sorry. These are not the best quality photos.. but if your traveling through LA, stop by MacArthur Park.  Not a usual suggestion of places to see, but currently there is an art installation located in the heart of this park.  It is definitely a sight to see whether you are just driving by or taking the time to stop and making this a photo op.

Time to Run

I really like songs, photographs or actually anything featuring a run.

I used to be a LACMA member, so I spent a lot of after work hours enjoying LACMA's various events and galleries.  One of my favorite exhibitions was last year's John Divola: As Far As I Could Get.  Divola would set a 10 second timer and take a photo of him running away from the camera.  It was such a simple idea, but absolute genius.  I loved it.

Anyways, here is favorite person running.

I'd Rather be Painting...

Dear Loves,

This has been one crazy bavk to school week.  Thank you for visiting my site even though I have not updated it all week.  I see your numbers; no names (in case you were wondering, not that high tech), just numbers.  I appreciate it.  Anyways, look out for September, there will be some goodies to come!

           Love,

90's Boy Bands

So, I never really got into the typical 90s "boy bands".  I remember as kids, Alison & I would listen to Savage Garden in her room, but to be honest the battle between N'SYNC and Backstreet Boys was whatevs to me.

Anyways, in 4th grade I clearly remember going to the local Radio Shack and picking up my very own Sony radio/cassette player.  I used this cassette player until I had enough money to buy a CD player.  But long story short, that was the start for my love of listening to music.  My "boy bands" were Third Eye Blind, Blink 182 & the Goo Goo Dolls.  To this day, the intro to First Date is my morning alarm and these guys are all still rotated on my playlists.

If you're looking for some good 90's rock hits or just a nice flashback, here you go:
Never Let You Go- Third Eye Blind
Jumper- Third Eye Blind
What's My Age Again- Blink-182
Black Balloon- Goo Goo Dolls
Name- Goo Goo Dolls
Slide- Goo Goo Dolls

Thank you Benson for taking me to see one of my favorite 90s "boy bands".  I seriously rocked out at the Third Eye Blind concert.  I was definitely channeling my elementary/middle school self.
